Free Dog Dander Do-Hicky

I've got one of these and he has DNA that can cure Male Pattern Baldness.
Problem is, he sheds 24/7. He sheds his weight in fur every 48 hours.

Now I have a cheap 87 Jetta and one of it's duties is to haul him and his bitch around. But I like to keep the inside of the car clean. What I need is a strong seat cover that isn't going to come loose, easy to install, won't rip under doggy paws, is water resistant and lastly, cheap.

I had to look no futher than the Convertable New Beetle. When they are shipped from the factory, there is a protective shell on the top. This shell is removed by the dealer and tossed into the trash, so that make the price just right and there should be a fairly steady supply of them at your local VW dealer. I'm using 2 of these shells for my project. You will also need a couple of coat hangers and some electrical tape. This should keep the project under $1.

Here is the main seat cover part installed. As you can see, it goes all the way down to the floor. The top of it is held in place by hooks that I hook into the seat belt braket.

Just a simple coat hanger bent up to make a hook.

This is the "no doggy wall" that keeps the dum-dums from trying to invade the front of the car. This has always been a common problem ever since they learned how to drive stick. Nothing like having a 85lbs lapdog while trying to drive during a phone call when eating lunch while doing taxes.

The no doggy wall is held in place by 2 hooks that are attached to the outer headrest post.

The shells have 2 of these long flaps that run though the convertable top. I had cut the others off, but left this one on and just simply run it though the front passenger seat as shown to help keep the no doggy wall from sagging in the middle.

The hooks are pretty simple to make. I start off with any common coat hanger wire, cut out a 15" section and make a "U" bend, folding it in half. That first bend become the "point" of the hook. Next make your hook bend. Take the material and fold over a 2" or 3" flap, then 1" away from your fold, jab the hook though the material, then bend the wire back over the material and cut off any extra wire that extends beyond 1" over the fold. Wrap some electrical tape over the hook to protect from sharp edges.

The shell has a rubber like coating on one side and I put that side down. This kept the material from shifting on the seats all the time. I spent about 20-ish minutes to make the whole set up and can install it in under 5 minutes easy. It worked like a charm, the dogs couldn't invade the front of of the car, my seats are not covered in dog fur. Kept the AC on, rolling the windows down would of causes the ever shedding dogfur to whirlwind all over the car.

Why should you send a postcard? Because it is cheap to do and as we all know, the US Post Office is funding it's Super Muntant Army Project with fees from postcards stamps. I would really like to see a Super Muntant Army deliever my mail in the near future.
Thank you.

and yes, I know it isn't spelled "muntant", thank you.
